If you’re struggling, please reach out and get support when you need it. There are many people and services here to support you. Below is a list of some of the support services available to you.

Cost of Living Support

Success for All Fund- this offers additional financial support if you are experiencing unexpected financial hardship.

Budgeting Workshop- Managing your Money - Running every Monday in Term 2

Helping you tackle the fear and worry about managing your student finances and covering your bills, in this workshop full of practical and useful information for you.

The Society Hardship Fund is there to support those for whom money is a barrier to fully engaging with societies and clubs in the Guild and AU.  

Mental Health & Wellbeing

First Response Service is an urgent mental health service for people with mental health and learning disability needs. Those either experiencing a mental health crisis or have concerns about someone’s mental wellbeing can access mental health care, advice and guidance 24/7.

Papyrus provide confidential help and advice around mental health and suicide to young people and anyone worried about a young person. Their opening hours are 9am – 12am (midnight)every day, including weekends and bank holidays.

The Moorings @ Devon offers out-of-hours mental health support to anyone aged over 18 in the Devon area.

They offer support from 10am - midnight, Mon-Fri, and 12 noon - midnight, Sat and Sun.

Samaritans provide a 24/7 confidential listening and support service where you are able to talk through your troubles and concerns in a safe and non-judgmental space.

Exeter Student Nightline is a confidential listening and information service run by Exeter students, for Exeter students available between 20:00 – 08:00.

University of Exeter Wellbeing provide free advice, guidance and support for all students on a wide range on topics.

Citizens Advice and DevonShelter provide information and advice regarding issues relating to issues in private accommodation.

Exeter City Council have information and advice for tenants. You can also find advice on what to do if you are at risk of becoming homeless, including tailored housing advice guides for a range of homelessness situations, and details on how to apply for social housing.

The Residence Life Team are there to provide support, guidance and advice to students living in residence. They also run a programme of social events to help build community within our residences.

The University Accommodation Team are there to support students with accommodation queries, and can be reached through the SID desk or drop-in sessions.

Study Zone provide learning resources, drop-ins and workshops on a range of study skills topics, including academic writing, referencing, time management, exams and revision, and digital skills.

Appeals/Disciplinary our Advice team are here to provide Academic advice from appealing marks, filing complaints, dealing with academic misconduct, and procedures for resits and deferrals.

Give It A Go- Meet people and explore Devon through the Guild’s Give It A Go programme. The trips are open to all students and are free or available at a reduced cost.

Join a Society- There are almost 300 societies here at Exeter, from sports, to music to hobbies and everything in between, there is something for everyone! If you don’t have the financial means to join a society, take a look at our Society Hardship Fund.

Guild Advice Team

The Guild Advice Team offer a free, independent and confidential advice service for University of Exeter students.
