I’m Kira, your Student Living Officer. I lead on fixing the issues that affect student’s experience, from housing, finances, safety, to health and wellbeing, plus living in the local community.
You told us that rising living costs and limited financial support make it hard to afford food on campus. Many shared that they’ve had to skip meals or rely on food banks during term time.
Kira met with the University Catering and Commercial teams to find ways to support students struggling with food costs. They proposed a food voucher scheme, using the eat&shop app to provide digital vouchers that make support easy, discreet and accessible.
Plans are now underway to launch the voucher scheme, giving students facing financial hardship immediate access to meals in on-campus outlets.
You’ll have greater access to affordable, nutritious food, helping ease the pressure of rising costs and support your wellbeing.
We’re securing funding and piloting the scheme, with the aim to expand it across more campus outlets soon.
Every win shared here began with feedback from students like you — and every change reflects the impact you’ve made on campus, your course, and your community.
