Our postgraduate and mature students are a vital part of the Exeter community and we’re determined to make sure that you have every opportunity and resource to make sure your student experience is exceptional.  

We’re working hard to make your that your specific needs are addressed by the University and the city. From issues including calling for increased stipends to help with the cost of living crisis, to making sure the University upholds teaching contracts, we’re here to support you.  We’ll be updating this page with the progress we make, and with how you can join with us.

Exeter has a number of different communities led by and for Postgrad/Mature students

We also have groups with the Inclusivity Badge and the Diversity Badge. The University also has the International Staff and PGR Network and the Parents and Carers Networks.

Here are some local services and support options for Postgraduate Students and Mature Students. 

Contact Tom Allars (Academic Skills and Student Engagement Team) if you’re interested in the Mature Students Peer Scheme (runs in Term 1, starting early September). Support is pastoral and sees upper year students using their lived experience to support newly arriving first year mature students.

Contact George Tarling for the Graduate School of Education Buddy Up peer support scheme. Support is predominantly pastoral, supporting the full variety of schemes offered by the department. 

Contact Darren Green if your interested in the UEBS PG Buddy Up peer support scheme for postgrads in the Business School.

If you have an idea for a new peer support scheme, contact ASSET.

Wellbeing Support for PG students.  

Talk to the Community Representation Team who can work with you and your Officers to campaign for solutions for your community’s experience at university – whether you need small adjustments or systematic changes!
