The Ultimate Sunday Reset

The shift from a relaxed weekend back into a Monday morning of lectures is always a bit of a struggle, but I’ve found that taking a few hours on a Sunday to get organised makes the whole week feel much more manageable. It isn't about being a productivity expert; it’s just about doing the boring bits now, so you don't have to deal with them when you’re tired on a Wednesday afternoon.

I usually start with my own room, doing a proper deep clean and getting fresh sheets on the bed. Having a tidy space makes a massive difference to how you feel when you wake up. If your house or flat doesn’t already have a cleaning rota, getting everyone together for a group clean of the kitchen is a great way to start the week on the right foot. It’s much easier to face a Monday when the communal areas aren't a mess, and it keeps things friendly with your housemates before everyone gets busy with lectures and deadlines.

Food is the other big thing to get sorted. I try to have a shopping list and rough plan before heading to the shops, and after, I’ll look at expiry dates to map out my meals day by day. If you’re a meal prepper, then Sunday is the perfect opportunity to get on top of batch cooking a few portions, especially if you know your schedule is packed. If you’re trying to keep costs down, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons are usually the best bet for delivery, but if anyone in the house has a car, a trip to Aldi or Lidl is definitely the way to go.

The most important part of the day for me is the end of the night. Once the cleaning and meal prep are done, my housemates and I usually lightsome candles and have a movie night, before heading to bed early to make sure we actually start the week with some energy. It’s easy to feel like you should be working constantly, but giving yourself a proper evening off is just as important as getting the work done. By getting the life admin out of the way on a Sunday, you can head into the new week feeling a bit more in control of everything.
