I’m voting in the Student Leadership Elections - and so should you

With the Student Leadership Elections voting now open, it is more important than ever to vote. Although I’m in my final year, it’s essential that I still have a voice in shaping the future of leadership. This year, with the new representation model, the elections are more inclusive, featuring more student voices and offering more opportunities than ever to get involved. This year, I’m voting, and you absolutely should too. Here’s why.

1. Voting Shapes Student Life:

The students whom you elect to leadership positions will be making decisions that directly affect your university experience. From the Education & Employability Officer to the Student Life & Communities Officer, these roles matter. The individuals that you vote for, and elect will be representing your voice for the next academic year, helping shape your experiences and opportunities across campus. Voting isn’t just symbolic – it’s how you influence who speaks on your behalf and what issues get taken seriously.

2. If you have a concern, now is your chance to act:

If you’ve ever thought that something needs to change or been caught in a moment where you think the Guild should do more about certain issues, voting is the chance to turn frustration into action. If you want someone who represents your values, enhances student voices and a leader that reflects your priorities, voting in these elections is the most direct way to make this happen.

3. There’s a prize in store for you:

Voting has never been this rewarding. Just for taking part in this year’s election, you could win prizes like an electric blanket, an air fryer, a heated clothes airer, a dumbbell set, brownies, or one of 10 £20 vouchers.

The real excitement comes as voter numbers climb – so don’t just vote yourself, get your friends to as well! New prizes are unlocked when a new voter milestone is reached

4. Impact lasts all year

It takes longer to make your morning cup of tea than it does for you to vote. Yet the outcome shapes the entire academic year ahead. Few actions offer such a strong ROI on such a small investment.

5- Celebrate your future at Results Night

Voting doesn’t completely end when you click submit. The Student Leadership Elections Results Night on 13 February is a chance to celebrate, see the announcement of who won, and enjoy the event with the student community.

So don't miss you, vote now and have your say.
