As the weather warms up, you may start feeling the urge to go exploring. We are so lucky to live in one of the most beautiful places in the country, and there are so many hidden (and not-so-hidden) gems to be found around Devon and beyond. So, keep reading to discover your new favourite spot.

The Beach – Of Course!

Exmouth, Dawlish Warren, Teignmouth, Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton—take your pick!

Regardless of where you live in Exeter, reaching the beach via one of the city’s numerous train stations is both convenient and affordable. Don’t forget to use your student railcard if you have one! Regular train services operate from Exeter St David’s, as well as from St James’ Park and Polsloe Bridge, which may be closer for those living off-campus. As the weather warms up, heading to the beach with a good book and a picnic is a dreamy way to spend an afternoon.

Darts Farm

 Anyone who knows me knows that I will most likely be spotted in Darts Farm. Donning the coolest farm shop, cafes, indie boutiques and walking spots, Darts Farm is a great spot to visit. And for anyone who likes to browse Jellycats, Darts has a very healthy collection of these cuddly friends.

 Pick up the train to Topsham and walk the short distance to Darts, or alternatively, the 57 bus towards Exmouth will drop you outside Darts Farm!

Haldon Forest

Haldon Forest is slightly less accessible by public transport, but if you or someone you know has a car, it’s well worth a visit! There are so many walks, viewpoints and lounging spots to take in the best of Devon’s scenery.

 Totnes

If you’re like me and love browsing the charity shops, Totnes is the place to be. Take the train towards Penzance (GWR) or Plymouth(Cross Country) and you’ll be dropped off in the quaint town of Totnes. It’s the perfect spot to spend a day, with so many charity shops, indie boutiques, cafes and bookstores to get lost in. Totnes also hosts super popular Markets on weekends which are well worth a visit.

Topsham

Topsham is a super short train or bus ride away and is filled to the brim with adorable spots to browse. It’s a gorgeous place to sit with an ice-cold drink and mull away the hours as the sun sets too — bliss!
