Postgraduates

Freshers’ is for all students, whatever your level of study, and we look forward to welcoming you to the amazing postgraduate community here. Even if you’re starting a bit later than many courses, we’ll make sure you get the welcome you deserve!

Get Involved

There are loads of opportunities for you as a postgraduate student at Exeter! Our amazing societies are always looking for new members, and there’s truly something for everyone.  We have almost 300 different groups ranging from fitness to academic, international to hobbies - there's even a Postgraduate Society!

Give it a Go
We also have our ‘Give it a Go’ programme, offering you the chance to try out a unique range of opportunities throughout the year. Run as stand alone sessions, you can go to as many or as few as you like, so there is no long-term commitment needed.

Want to explore your creative side? We’ll be hosting lots of different craft-based events across the year which act as great study breaks! No experience or skills are required, it’s simply about taking time out to make something and trying something new! Whether you want to have a go at macramé, ceramic painting, or candle making, we’ve got it all!

We'll be hosting a number of trips across the year to some of the best spots in the Southwest. From the Jurassic Coast to Stonehenge, Dartmoor to the beaches of Newquay, there will be plenty of chances for you to find out why the Southwest is best! Want to begin exploring already?  We’ll be offering plenty of opportunities to try new things where you can learn a new sport, skill or talent! This includes water sports, racing, climbing and more!

Using Your Voice

We’re also really keen to make sure the postgraduate voice is as loud as possible, so make sure you get involved with representation, either by going for a role yourself or raising issues that you care about or are experiencing. You're represented by your Full-Time Officers and also Faculty and Department Reps. We’ll be opening nominations for rep positions in Term 1.

Stay Up to Date

Make sure you stay up to date with our Postgraduate Hub, where we post updates and useful information for you.

You can also see the latest news and updates from the Doctoral College, for tips on writing, opportunities for Early Career Researchers and blogs.

Additional Support

We know some of you might have additional responsibilities outside of your degree, including if you’re a parent or you have caring responsibilities. Our team of advisors can help you with any extra funding you might be entitled to, or providing space for you to chat to others with similar experiences. Find out more here.
